SWGA EC Sexual Harassment Seminar

The SWGA Employer Committee, Bainbridge Career Center and Bainbridge College hosted a Sexual Harassment Seminar on July 17, 2008, with approximately 44 participants attending the training. Greg McDonald, Director of Continuing Education with Bainbridge College presented the seminar which was held at the Bainbridge/Decatur County Industrial Park Training Center. Read more

In The Trenches “Boot Camp” for HR Leaders

The Cairo/Grady County Employer Committee sponsored a seminar for area employers on July 8, 2008 in Cairo at the Grady Room of the Roddenbery Memorial Library.

Eighteen companies were represented at this seminar which started off with a fabulous continental breakfast catered by local caterer Carol Oates.

$100 million unemployment insurance tax cut to continue in 2008

Commissioner Michael ThurmondGeorgia Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond announced that the $100 million unemployment insurance tax cut implemented in 2007 will be continued in 2008. Since 1999, Georgia employers have received over $1.7 billion in tax reductions through the efforts of the Georgia Department of Labor, working in partnership with Georgia employers. Read more

On December 4, 2007 during halftime at an Atlanta Hawks game, Josh Smith accompanied by his father Mr. Pete Smith, presented a check in the amount of $7,000.00 to Commissioner Thurmond and members of the Jobs for Georgia Graduates Program from Benjamin E. Mays High School. Smith indicated that he believed in education and giving back to his community.

SBA Drought Loans Available in Georgia

 

Drought

Assistance is available for nurseries and other small businesses affected by the drought. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that federal disaster loans are available to small businesses and small agricultural cooperatives located in all Georgia counties as a result of damages and losses to crops caused by the recent drought.Read more

Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) New

Conference attendees to received recertification hours

Attendees with Profession in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) attending the Georgia Employer Committee Conference next week in Savannah, Ga.will receive 6.25 recertification credit.
