The Albany Area Employer Committee hosted an Employee Appreciation Breakfast for Albany Career Center Staff on September 8, 2011. Staff enjoyed sausage biscuits, grits, juice & coffee.

On Tuesday, June 21, the Albany Area Employer Committee hosted a 2011 General Assembly update for its employers. Our guests were Melanie Stockwell, Deputy Commissioner of Legal & Policy Procedures, GDOL, and Kash Trivedi, Legislative Liaison, GDOL. Ms. Stockwell explained many of the new and updated house bills that were passed by the Georgia General Assembly this year.

Bears collected for Fatherhood Initiative

During the first seminar of the year, a $5.00 reduction in seminar fee was offered for those donating a stuffed bear.  The Committee collected over 15 bears and donated to the Fatherhood Initiative which collects bears every February statewide to offer to agencies in need of comfort items to give to some of our youngest victims.

 

Albany EC donates to Lily Pad

The Albany Area Employer Committee recently donated supplies to the Lily Pad. The Lily Pad provides compassionate, comprehensive care to sexual assault and child abuse victims and their families. Lily Pad is a 501(c)3 non-profit that serves as the umbrella organization to four programs:

On Tuesday, February 15, the Albany Area Employer Committee held its first seminar of the year at the Albany Career Center.  The topic of the seminar was “From Hiring to Firing-all the Pieces Should Fit” and was given by Jimmy Lindsey, a 25-year HR Manager.
