Cairo/Grady County Employer Committee Learn of “The Homeless Count” January 27, 2011

Tony Ward and Peter Wright and Emma Fortner  from the Grady County Housing Task Force, gave a presentation on  “The Homeless Count”.

This week in Grady County, a week long survey is being conducted to count our homeless population.  Every community includes people who are facing housing crisis.  The people that are homeless in our community can fall into any of the below listed categories:

People who live in dilapidated housing, and abandoned buildings, people who have lost their housing because of economic hardship, people fleeing family violence and people whose addictions have led to homelessness.

The Homeless Count Coordinators are Emma Fortner or Judith Pinion and can be reached via the City Hall.

These coordinators are also accepting donations for people who respond to the survey as homeless and are in need of immediate help.
