Casey Nash and Debbie Baggett
The Georgia Employer Committee would like to share with its viewers the EMR's who are vital to the success of the Local Committees throughout the State. This month we meet and talk with Casey Nash and Debbie Baggett of the Rome Career Center.
Tell us your name, your Career Center and how long you’ve been an EMR?
CN&DB: - Casey Nash and Debbie Baggett, Floyd-Gordon Employer Committee, Rome Career Center.
What types of businesses or organizations make up your Employer Committee?
CN&DB: - All types. We have everything from small business, to healthcare, and from manufacturing industry to large international companies.
What do you believe is unique about your Employer Committee?
CN&DB: - We make an effort to be certain that at least one of the two chair and co-chair positions are actual employers. We like to assure that we are meeting the needs of our business community by offering two dynamic seminars a year, and excellent speakers at each monthly meeting. Our monthly meetings are designed to cover relevant topics for today’s employers.
What do you believe is your Employer Committee's biggest challenge for your area, regarding the workforce?
CN&DB: - Matching employer to applicants with the necessary skill sets for the open positions.
Why should I join your Employer Committee?
CN&DB: - We have a very diverse group of members ranging from Manufacturing to Service Providers. Our group offers a great opportunity for Employers to network as well as receive valued information at each meeting.
How active is your Employer Committee working in your community?
CN&DB: - We are very active in many different aspects. We participate in community events to promote our committee and we also support local efforts, especially graduating seniors. We try to sponsor a group of graduates yearly in providing them with business attire and job readiness skills.
What future trends does your Employer Committee see in employment needs in your area?
CN&DB: - Preparing the workforce with education and training to meet the evolving technology needs of this area.
In the future, what would you most like to accomplish as an EMR?
-
Casey- My efforts as an EMR are to provide knowledge to our Floyd and Gordon employers to make them more successful, potentially providing more jobs to our local workforce. Through our Employer Committee, I hope to encourage our employers to benefit from the endless resources that the Georgia Department of Labor offers.
Debbie- My goal is to work with small businesses to large employers to help them understand all of the resources that are available through the Georgia Department of Labor. I hope to let the employers know that I am available regardless of their need, whether it be assisting with employment or helping them through a lay-off.
