JOBS FOR GEORGIA GRADUATES
22nd ANNUAL STATE CAREER ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE

The Jobs for Georgia Graduates 22nd Annual State Career Association Conference was held on March 12, 2009 on the campus of Fort Valley State University.  Approximately 650 seniors representing 34 high schools from throughout the state were in attendance.  The theme for the conference was Success: My goal, My dream, My destiny. The drum line of Peach County High School kicked off the Opening Session.  The students were welcomed by Dr. Daniel K. Wims, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Assistant Commissioner Linda T. Johnson.  Following the Opening Session the conference included a College/Career Fair, Life Skills Workshops as well as a campus tour.   

The culminating activity was the annual awards luncheon.  Dr. Larry E. Rivers, the President of Fort Valley State University was the luncheon keynote speaker.  Dr. Rivers was extremely enthusiastic and encouraging in his remarks.  His message to the students emphasized that the path to success requires hard work and dedication.  The luncheon concluded with the presentation of state competition award winners. The seniors had the opportunity to compete in seven competitive events.  Twenty-one trophies were presented to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
